Why should I use the "abax EasyBackup" solution for offsite backups ?
Answer
Your company already takes backups for your data. That's the most probable
thing. And it applies for on-site backups.
Have you ever wondered what's going to happen in case of a catastrophic failure
(hardware malfunction , harddrive/motherboard/server malfunction etc.) ?
Or maybe an elements of nature failure (earthquake, fire, flood etc.) ?
For such a scenario, you need to have off-site backups. This way one can be
100% sure that he can restore precious data.
Question 2
How exactly does EasyBackup work ?
Answer
When your call reaches our switchboard, a technician will arrive at your premises
with all the needed equipment, in order to store your data for off-site backups.
You, the customer, will have to indicate to our technician what exactly you would
like to backup out of your site and it will be done in a matter of minutes. From there,
the backed-up data will arrive at our premises, where it will be stored in an orderly
fashion to other media like professional backup Tapes and they will be archived for possible future use.

So, what you're sayin here is that all we have to do as a company is indicate to your
technician what we need backed up and he will get it for us ?
Answer
Yes. Before our technician proceeds any further, he will have to have a chat with the companys'
own technical person (or any other person responsible for your companys' IT infrastructure) in
order for them to know they are on the right track and that they backup the right portion of
your data.
E.g. which machine will the data be backed up from. What exact data need to be backed up etc.
It's a standard procedure in such cases so that our technicial doesn't have any blind spots when
it comes to backing up your precious data.
Question 4
How much will it cost me to backup my data for a simple off-site backup ?
Answer
It depends by you, our customer. You will have to indicate what exactly we should get as backup.

Can't you just give me a rough number ?
Answer
Naturally. A general rule of thumb indicates capacity increments of 0,4Gb (400Mb). Judging that in
our days, the smallest capacity is set to about 400Mb, we have :
15 Euros for every call we receive by you if your organization is situated inside and around the
centre of the island, then an additional 4.00 Euros per 400Mb of data to be backed up.
25 Euros for every call we receive by you if your organization is situated outside the centre of
the island, then an additional 4,00 Euros per 400Mb of data to be backed up.
P L E A S E N O T E The above prices are only indicative and depend on the
contract followed by us (the companyu) and you (the client).
The best thing you should do is contact us first, so we can talk about your off-site backup needs.
Also there exists the monthly contract.
Question 6
How safe are the off-site backups you hold at your premises ?
Answer
The off-site backups are stored at our premises on special magentic tapes.
These magnetic tapes are stored in specialy arranged places / rooms where the temperature, humidity
and harmful radiation are all controlled and blocked. These special premises have sheets of lead
installed, so that no harmful radiation can penetrate them and do harm on the tapes (and your backed
up data).

For how long can you guarrantee that my backed up data will be safe at your premises ?
Answer
We can hold your backed up data for one year. From then on it depends on the maintainance
contract as to how long we are going to keep your data in our premises.
On a general rule of thumb, the contract renewable periods for storing ones' backed up
data after the initial year is per annum.
Question 8
What is the situation if I no longer desire to work (keep my backups) with you ?
Answer
After the first year, "abax" is obligated to inform the client via e-mail or telephone that
the data holding period has expired. If it is dificult for "abax" to find the client, the backup
data will be held for a total period of three months at our premises, while still trying to find the
client. If that period expires and the client is nowhere to be found, "abax" will destroy the data
in a safe manner.
Question 9
What is the situation if I would like to continue my contract with you ?
Answer
In that case, there will be a re-newal contract for one year. The cost for re-newing the contract with
"abax" will be 12.00 Euro per 400Mb of data that will be stored in our premises.
For example, if you had a contract with "abax" for a total capacity of about 1,2Gb (1,200Mb) that is
about to expire and wish to re-new your contract for another year, the total cost for your existing data
(meaning the data you have already in store with us) would be
1,200Mb/400Mb = 3 * 12.00 Euros = 36.00 Euros TOTAL for the coming year.
Question 10
What happens if I wish to make additional backups for more data ? How much will it cost me ?
Answer
As described above, for the first year the cost amounts to 4.00 Euros for every 400Mb of backed
up data. There exists the cost of the visiting technician to your premises which is 15.00 Euros for
the centre of the island and 25.00 Euros outside the centre.
Question 11
Every when can I have access to my backed up data ?
Answer
Whenever you desire. All you have to do is call us and inform us that you would like to access
your data.
Question 12
Is there a charge if I would like to access my backed up data ?
Answer
Yes. The cost is 15.00 Euros for sending a technician to your premises if they are situated near
or around the centre of the island and 25.00 Euros if your offices are outside the centre.
Question 13
Can I trust your company to keep my data ? How can I be certain that you people won't give my data
to other people / companies / adversaries ? Or that my data won't end up by mistake to the wrong hands ?
Answer
This is a question of professionalism. All we can say is try us and you won't be dissapointed.
If, again, you cannot trust us, there exists the data lock-down solution. What this means is that
you can lock your data-to-be-backup-up before handing them to us.
Question 14
Now, this is a very interesting point. Could you please be a bit more specific on this ?
Answer
"abax" technicians carry with them a special enctyption-compression package relevant to winzip.
This piece of software is capable of encrypting data on the fly. So, if the client provides the
encryption code (password), the data can be safely encrypted without "abax" knowing how to decrypt
the data. There is no way possible for anyone (including "abax" technicians) to be able to access
those data without the clients' approval.
Question 15
I can hardly trust anyone these days. Can I use my own software to compress-encrypt my data before
I hand it over to you chaps ?
Answer
Sure. We can provide you with our own compression-encryption software. But if you don't want it,
then we could always get your backed up data compressed and encrypted with the software of your choice
(WinZip, WinRAR etc.).
